IRONWOOD -- The Lake Linden-Hubbell Lakes used a 20-point second quarter and 24 points in the second half to cruise to a 44-14 road victory Friday over the Ironwood Red Devils.
The Lakes and Red Devils played to a 0-0 tie after the first quarter before Lake Linden took over in the second quarter and led 20-6 at half. The second half played out much the same way, with the Lakes outsourcing their opponent 24-8 to seal the win.
The Axford triplets all found ways to help the Lakes to the win.
Brady Axford led the way for the Lakes by rushing 20 times for 259 yards and two touchdowns. Through the air, he was 3-of-6 for 50 yards and a pair of touchdowns as well. On defense, he came up with an interception.
Lukas Axford had two catches for 40 yards and a touchdown.
Tyler Axford had one catch for 10 yards and a touchdown. He also ran the ball six times for 62 yards, a touchdown, and a two-point conversion.
Bodie Fortin was 1-for-1 through the air for 23 yards and a touchdown. His pass was to Brodie Rust, who had one reception for 23 yards and a touchdown. Rust also figured in defensively, coming up with an interception and a fumble recovery.

The Lakes improved to 2-0 with the win. They remain on the road Friday, when they will face Munising. The Red Devils fell to 1-1. They will remain at home hosting Norway Friday.
