HOUGHTON -- The Michigan Tech Huskies hockey team was the top pick in the coaches’ CCHA Preseason Poll, which the league announced Monday. Assistant captain Max Koskipirtti, captain Isaac Gordon, and senior goaltender Owen Bartoszkiewicz were named to the Preseason All-CCHA Team by the coaches.
The Huskies earned 65 points and four first-place votes by the coaches. Bowling Green was second with 62 points and a pair of first-place nods. Minnesota State also had a pair of votes to finish first and accumulated 59 points. Augustana (57), Bemidji State (46), Lake Superior State (41), Ferris State (33), and Northern Michigan (29) rounded out the coaches’ poll.
Koskipirtti, a senior forward, was named to the All-CCHA Second Team during his junior season after he skated in all 39 games and tallied a career-best 35 points on 13 goals and 22 assists. He attended the 2026 Dallas Stars NHL Development Camp for the second year in a row in the offseason.
Koskipirtti had 26 points in CCHA action, ranking sixth in the conference. He also ranked 11th in the nation in faceoff wins and 16th nationally with four game-winning goals.
Gordon, also a senior forward, skated in 38-of-39 games and tallied 29 points with eight goals and 21 assists. He went on a nine-game point streak from Jan. 3-31 with three goals and seven assists over the span and had a point in 13 of the final 16 games.
Gordon was named the 2023 CCHA Rookie of the Year and to the 2023 CCHA All-Rookie Team.
Bartoszkiewicz started 38-of-39 games in his first season with Michigan Tech last year, going 23-12-3 with a 2.52 goals-against average and .913 save percentage. He ranked fourth in the nation in games played, fourth in wins, and fifth in saves (978).
Bartoszkiewicz was named the CCHA Goaltender of the Week five times and earned shutouts at St. Lawrence (Nov. 1) and against Alaska-Anchorage (Jan. 3).
