Laurium woman killed in car-pedestrian crash
Calumet man arrested following Saturday mishap

A woman from Laurium died as the result of a car-pedestrian crash last weekend in Calumet Township. According to the Houghton County Sheriff Office, deputies responded to the crash at approximately 3:30 a.m. March 15.
A Sheriff Department press release issued Thursday, identified the victim as 48 year old Holly Dollar of Laurium. Deputies said Dollar had been walking on Lake Linden Avenue when she was struck by a vehicle driven by 24-year-old Jordon Racine-Klarich of Calumet.
As a result of the the initial investigation, Racine-Klarich was taken into custody on suspicion of Operating While Intoxicated causing serious injury.
Holly Dollar was transported by ambulance UP Health System-Portage, where she was briefly treated for injuries sustained in the crash. She was then transported to UP Health System-Marquette where she reportedly passed away shortly after her arrival.
Criminal charges are pending until further investigation and laboratory tests are completed.
The Sheriff’s Office was assisted on the scene by the Laurium Village Police Dept. and Mercy Ambulance.
