HOUGHTON — The Pine Mountain Music Festival is returning to the Upper Peninsula for its 2025 season. From June 13-28, the festival will feature a variety of shows, including drama, comedy, classics, and more.
According to PMMF Executive Director Lara Neves, the festival will continue its mission to “…enrich the cultural life of the region with unforgettable performances, educational opportunities, and community engagement.”
One of the highlights of this year’s lineup is the “Three Sopranos (and a Tenor)” show. Described as an “operatic tour de force,” this program is a “blend of dramatic and comic scenes.” It will include sopranos Maitri White and Kathryn Summersett, mezzo-soprano Julia Janowski, and tenor Darrius Morton.
The iconic Bergonzi Trio will also return, bringing a “signature blend of passion, precision, and power in a chamber music experience not to be missed.” The trio will also offer two interactive children’s concerts, designed to “spark a lifelong love of music in children and families,”
Finally, the UPStarts! Emerging Artists Showcase will close the festival. This year, three up-and-coming young musicians will be featured, all of them from the Upper Peninsula. The 2025 UpStarts! featured performers include Curt Rogan, a tenor from Calumet, Rachel Nulf of Hancock on the flute, and Jane Fall-Lakatos, a violinist and Michigan Tech student.
“We’re proud to bring a season that celebrates the incredible talent that lives in and returns to the Upper Peninsula,” said Joel Neves, Lara’s husband and the artistic director of the festival. “This year is a celebration of artists and community,” he added. “We’re proud to connect our region through music that inspires, uplifts, and brings people together.”
The donation- and volunteer-based Pine Mountain Music Festival began in 1991, and has grown to become the most anticipated summer music event in the U.P.
