Accident closes US 41
BARAGA COUNTY — A two-vehicle accident caused the closure of US 41 for several hours Monday morning. According to a press release from the Baraga County Sheriff’s Office, the mishap happened shortly after 7 a.m. Monday on US 41 near the intersection of Knapp Camp Road, north of Alberta.
The sheriff’s department received the call at 7:10 a.m. and upon arrival deputies found two vehicles with significant damage and one person requiring medical attention. The injured person was taken to a local hospital for treatment.
According to the press release US 41 was closed for about four hours while emergency crews worked at the scene and investigators conducted the investigation. Assisting the sheriff’s office were the Baraga and L’Anse Police Departments, L’Anse Fire and Rescue, Bay Ambulance and the Michigan Department of Transportation.
A Michigan State Police accident investigator was called in to assist in the accident investigation conducted by the sheriffs department.
