Houghton – Hancock — The Bridgefest Committee, in collaboration with leadership from both cities and the Keweenaw Chamber of Commerce, announces that Bridgefest will be moved to a new date. This decision was not made lightly and follows thoughtful discussions among city leaders and the Bridgefest Committee regarding the challenges of hosting the event on its traditional weekend.
According to a release from the Bridgefest Committee, the event will now take place June 11-14, 2026. This new date aligns with the broader community calendar while preserving the festival’s integrity and long-standing success. The change also coincides with the introduction of a new event scheduled for the same weekend as Bridgefest over the next two years.
The Bridgefest Committee views this transition as an opportunity for collaboration and growth, a moment to come together and ensure that both celebrations contribute meaningfully to our shared community spirit, unity, and pride.
Now in its 39th year, Bridgefest has long been proudly celebrated on Father’s Day weekend, honoring the Portage Lake Lift Bridge and symbolizing the strong connection between our two cities. More than just a festival, Bridgefest is a cherished tradition and a reflection of our community’s heart and identity.
While a date change presents challenges, it also paves the way for innovation and partnership. The Bridgefest Committee remains committed to upholding the excellence, consistency, and community pride that have defined this celebration for nearly four decades. Together, we will continue to honor the spirit of Bridgefest and the unity it represents for generations to come.
