LAKE LINDEN — The Lake Linden-Hubbell Music Department announced it has been awarded a prestigious grant totaling $24,300 from the Michigan Arts and Culture Council (MACC). This funding represents a landmark investment in the students, facilities, and the future of the arts within the community. According to a LL-H press release, by securing these funds, we are taking a monumental step toward our goal of making a high-quality music education accessible, successful, and–most importantly–fun for every student who walks into our band room.
The impact of this grant will be felt immediately across three primary areas of the music program. First, a significant portion of the funds is dedicated to the renovation of the historic LL-H HS Auditorium. As the heart of our performance culture, these upgrades will ensure that our students have a professional-grade environment that reflects the hard work they put into their craft every day. Beyond the physical stage, we are investing in the “podium” by sending our music staff to the 2026 Midwest Clinic International Band and Orchestra Conference in Chicago. This world-renowned professional development opportunity will allow us to bring the most innovative classroom pedagogy and the highest quality repertoire back to our students, ensuring our teaching remains at the cutting edge of music education.
Finally, and perhaps most exciting for students, according to the release, is the MACC grant will bridge the gap between the classroom and the professional world by providing fully funded field trips to professional performances throughout the upcoming year. For a Class D district, these experiences are vital; they provide the inspiration that turns a beginning musician into a lifelong lover of the arts. We are deeply grateful to the Michigan Arts and Culture Council for their support, and we look forward to the incredible growth our musicians will achieve as a result of this partnership.
