HOUGHTON — Two former Finlandia University buildings and another parcel will be auctioned off in December. The Jutila Center and Old Main will be sold to the highest bidder in the auction, which is being conducted by state-appointed receiver O’Keefe and Associates and their real-estate partner, Keen-Summit Capital Partners. $8M MI funding hits area roads

HOUGHTON — Some Copper Country roads will be smoother thanks to the latest round of funding from the state. Hancock, Houghton and Ontonagon received some of the $8 million in total grants given out through the state’s Community Service Infrastructure Fund Category B program. Villages and cities under 10,000 people are eligible for the funds, which are used for road resurfacing, culvert replacement, pavement crack sealing, preventative maintenance, and ancillary stormwater management measures. Calumet Village discusses delinquent property taxes

CALUMET — The village of Calumet is confronted with a shortfall of more than $93,000 as a result of property owners defaulting on their property taxes and is considering possible ways to alleviate the problem. Temporary closure planned for Boney Falls boat launch Oct. 27

Press release Marquette – Upper Peninsula Power Company (UPPCO) is announcing the company’s boat launch facility at Dam No. 4 on the Boney Falls reservoir will be temporarily closed to the public on Friday, October 27th. The closure is required to support the demobilization of equipment that was used for planned maintenance activities and facility improvements that were completed by UPPCO this summer.
