Sugar Coated Lake Linden just sent out their notes to residents. Seems they want a bump in their budget. They assure it is only on "wealthy" folks with extra homes , vacation homes , ect. What Mr. Codere forgot to mention if you rent in Lake Linden your rent is about to go up if this passes. Your apartment or home you rent is an "extra" property. So the people just making their rent are who this millage raise would hit like a brick. Editor: When we moved to the Copper Country 50 years ago, I called the Gazette office to subscribe to this newspaper, and when I asked when the TV schedule was published, the clerk said, “Oh - that came out yesterday, but I’ll put one in your mailbox on my way home.” I decided right away that this was an unusually friendly place. In a November 2024 letter to the editor I was wrong when I said that we can hope the UP is largely insulated from Washington, DC. The Trump administration implemented a slash and burn method of making governmental cuts in spending. President Trump placed Elon Musk in his new Department of Government Efficiency. In DOGE, Musk sent out thousands of termination letters to governmental employees. Letters included the notion that people were terminated due to incompetency.
