Faith perspective: The deceitful heart

Anyone who advocates listening to his/her heart either has not read the Bible or doesn’t believe God’s Word. Both the Old and New Testaments have much to say regarding the heart. For example, Jeremiah 17:9 warns, “The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it?” Our concern should not be about WHAT divides people but rather WHO causes the division between humans and God. Satan has been in enmity with God ever since the Garden of Eden. The Bible has given us the answers to all the important questions of life. Our heart is a leaky vessel ...

Aid for Ukraine

After hearing of Alexei Navalny’s death at the hands of Putin, I called Rep. Bergman’s office to ask about Bergman’s stance on aid to Ukraine, but I only got an evasive answer. All our elected officials should loudly and openly proclaim their stance in favor of aid to Ukraine without hiding behind excuses that they need more information, or they fear the money might be wasted, or they can’t do anything because their speaker hasn’t put the bill up for a vote yet, etc. We can’t let Putin continue to kill innocent lives and further destroy the beautiful country of Ukraine. ...

Because of their generous donations, we are able to continue our mission to help children in our local communities. These amazing groups have made it ...

Is local zoning control a sacred right or a sacred cow?

Michigan’s new clean energy legislation pits local zoning officials against local landowners who want to place clean solar and wind on their land. Citizens for Local Choice says, “local zoning control is a sacred right enjoyed by local units.” Really? If that were true, vital public services like highways, telephone, internet and electricity could be stopped by local zoning boards. Thank goodness that Michigan law prohibits local zoning interference with vital public services. And what about the sacred rights of local property owners? If they want to build solar and wind, why ...

Faith Perspective: The problem with lack of commitment

The subject is “A Church without God.” I would assume they don’t mean a Christan Church that teaches and is committed to living in accordance to the teaching of the Bible, the written Word of God. The Bible is very clear on what should be accepted and what needs to be rejected in the Christian Church. We are instructed to be all in one accord but because man created religion many Churches today have gone their own way. What a mess. The Church that Jesus Christ created from day one of the movement as a body of born-again believers filled with the Holy Spirit eager to spread the ...
