Lucille M. Makela, age 82, passed away peacefully on May 19, 2023, at Canal View, located in Hancock, Michigan. Lu was born August 10, 1940 the daughter of Frank and Viola (Isaacson) Perona. She attended local Schools graduating from Calumet High School with the class of 1958. Lu married Norman Makela on August 27, 1960. Together they had two sons, Gregory and Steven. She was predeceased by her parents and a brother, John Perona. Robert W. “Bobby” Borsum, 66, a former resident of Dollar Bay, who passed away at the Trinity Hospital in Minot, ND, on November 6, 2022, while residing with his daughter. John Butina

John Butina, 83, a lifelong resident of Painesdale, died unexpectedly on January 31, 2023, at his son’s home in Arizona. John was born on April 4, 1939, to Joseph and Mary (Grentz) Butina. He grew up in the Seeberville Location of Painesdale and graduated from Jeffers High School in 1957. After graduating high school, John joined the United States Air Force. Maxine Ann Coon, age 89, of Hancock, died on February 7, 2023, at The Bluffs Community in Houghton, Michigan. Maxine, born on October 7, 1933, in Vulcan, Michigan was the third child to the late Edward and Jessie (Blommaert) Ries. She, her parents and two older brothers lived in Vulcan. She graduated 4th of a class of 18 from Vulcan High School in 1951. She then attended St. Joseph School of Nursing in Hancock graduating in 1954. Martin James Feira, 86, of Houghton passed away Monday evening, May 22, 2023, at the Omega House in Houghton. He was born on November 17, 1936, in Houghton, Michigan, to Dominic and Mary (Giachino) Feira. He was married to Ruth Ambrogio on November 4, 1961, in South Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
