• UPCAP will host a Rural Veteran Health Forum on Wednesday, July 30, from 12-2 p.m. at the VFW Rangers Post 6165 at 44969 Baltic Ave., South Range. Veterans are encouraged to learn and provide feedback on ways improve dental care. A meal will be provided to families. Aug. 1
• The Friends of the L’Anse School/Public Library are having a Huge Used Book Sale on 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. Items for sale include Fiction & Nonfiction Adult and Juvenile books, DVDS, music CDs, jigsaw puzzles, and audiobooks. This sale is a fundraiser for the Friends of the Library. Proceeds of the sale go toward programming at the library. The Friends of the Library put on the Summer Reading Programs and other programs throughout the year.
• STUFF THE BUS (a really big bus will be parked at Walmart) on Friday, Aug.1, and Saturday, Aug. 2. Opportunity for our community to help families in need of supplies for their children in preparation for school. Donations will continue throughout August. Sponsored by Copper Country Angel Mission, The Salvation Army, Bread of Life Center and Walmart.

• Houghton High School Alumni Association will host a Pancake Breakfast, with Silent Pie & gift basket auction,8:30 – 11:30 a.m. in the multi-purpose room of the Houghton High School. Menu includes, choice of traditional, blueberry & Shelby’s Finnish pancakes, Vollwerth’s sausage, fruit & beverage, $10 donation & tickets are available from the pancake breakfast alumni committee members, B & B Bar and at the door. The pie auction will feature pies baked by Alumnus representing class eras, and gift baskets with a variety of items.

• A Free Presentation & Discussion on Grief Related to Pregnancy and Infant Loss 5:30 – 7:30 p.m. Portage Lake District Library, Houghton. Grief following the loss of a pregnancy or infant is a deeply personal and often unspoken experience. Join us for an informative presentation focused on understanding and navigating this unique form of grief. This free community presentation and discussion is open to everyone. Sponsored by Omega House and the Grief Awareness and Education Alliance, this event offers a safe and welcoming space for connection, education, and support. No registration is required. We invite you to come, listen, share (if you wish), and know that you are not alone.
