• New Traffic Light Begins Operation. The new traffic light at M-26 and Canal Road will begin full operation today. Please drive carefully.
• Performance: The Spoon Man, musical comedian, 1 p.m. Portage Lake District Library. This family friendly event is free and open to the public.
• Houghton Summer Slam Concert. 7 p.m. Houghton Downtown Pier. Tonight’s concert is by Bling Crosby
• ‘How Sundials Helped Settle the American Frontier,’ by Mark Montgomery, 7 p.m. Eagle Harbor Community Center. Learn how William Burt came to invent the sun compass, used to further westward expansion in the U.S., as well as how this surveying instrument relates directly to U. P. history. Suggested donation: $5/person, part of Keweenaw County Historical Society’s “Adventures in History.”
• Copper Range Historical Society is having its 36th Annual Member Dinner & Meeting. at Grace Lutheran, Hwy M-26, South Range. Program by Jim Kurtti titled “Sauna: Everything Old is New Again.” Meal features Krupps pasties, coleslaw, and dessert. Tickets $10.00. Available at the museum during open hours or from Janet Kokko at 906-482-2368. Doors open at 5:30 pm. Members and public invited.
• Calumet Theatre Summer Concert series. 7:30 p.m.featuring Adrienne Newman. If weather is favorable, the concert will be held outside in the green space adjacent to the theatre. Bring a lawn chair to sit on. There is no charge, but donations are appreciated. If weather is inclement, the concert will be moved inside the theatre.

• Better Together Keweenaw, 9:30 a.m. Zion Lutheran Church, Hancock. he speaker will be Andrea Morse of Chassell. Her topic will be “Distant.” All area women are cordially invited to attend, with the goal to bring women together to find friendship, support and encouragement. A brunch will be served, with a suggested donation of $10. All proceeds over the cost of the event will be donated to local charities. • Public Forum: New Jail Proposal and August 5 Millage Election. The Keweenaw Unitarian Universalist Fellowship will host an online public forum that will provide information and an opportunity to ask questions about the upcoming Aug. 5 millage election to support construction of a new jail and county buildings. The speaker will be Faith Morrison, co-president of the Copper Country Chapter of the League of Women Voters. Forums are open to the public. They are online and run approximately one hour. • Copper Country Mental Health offices in Baraga, Ontonagon, & Calumet will close at 10 a.m. and the main office in Houghton will close at 11 a.m. Regular business hours will resume on July 17. The crisis line, 1-800-526-5059, will remain open & access calls will be returned the next day.
