August 14

• Better Together Christian Women’s Group 9:30 a.m. Zion Lutheran Church, Hancock. The speaker will be Duffy Lepisto and her topic will be “How God Provides.” Duffy and her husband Russ spend winters in southern Texas ministering to people there, and in Mexico. All area women are invited to attend this fun and inspiring event. The goal of this gathering is to bring women together to find friendship, support and encouragement. A brunch will be served and there is a suggested donation of $10.

• L’Anse Lakefront Concert. Black Pearl brings their mix of smooth jazz. rock and country music to the free L’Anse Lakefront Concerts this at 7 p.m. The concerts are held every Thursday in the beautiful lakefront park at the foot of Broad Street at the lake. There is limited seating, so bring a chair or blanket to sit back and enjoy the good sounds, good vibes and million-dollar view. The L’Anse Twp School Cafetorium will be used in case of inclement weather.

August 17

• Sixties mania concert in Crystal Falls 7 p.m. CDT) Hailed as “the most authentic sixties show on the world circuit today,” Sixtiesmania delivers all the great groups and songs that became an iconic backdrop to that turbulent decade. From the Beatles to the Beach Boys, the band covers the British Invasion, the California sounds, Carnaby Street, the Vietnam tour of duty, Flower Power, Woodstock and more. • Let’s Eat Community Meal. Holy Trinity, Chassell, 4-5:30 p.m. The next meal is sponsored by Memorial Chapel Funeral Homes. Please let your membership know about this during events you have this weekend. The menu will be Sloppy Joes, cole slaw and , of course, fruit and dessert.

Keweenaw Support 4 Healthy Minds, 6:30 p.m. Portage Lake District Library Meeting Room. Keweenaw Support 4 Healthy MInds is a public group, and we welcome anyone interested in our mission: “to support healthy minds through connection and community.” Our goals are to talk more openly about mental health to reduce stigma, to build a resilient community by educating the public, and to support those at risk for mental health and substance use crises.
