• “Oliver” at the Calumet Theatre. 7:30 p.m. Charles Dickens’ novel Oliver Twist comes to life with the Calumet Players’ musical rendition of OLIVER at the historic Calumet Theatre. The cast and crew are local community members who love sharing their talents! You never know whom you might catch on stage! • New Music Detroit. Two performances 5 & 7:30 p.m. Rozsa Center for the Performing Arts. New Music Detroit is a collective of musicians dedicated to performing groundbreaking musical works from the late-20th century to the present day. NMD will perform “The 12 Color Sonnets” by Aliona Yurtsevich and “Red Vespers” by guest composer David Biedenbender in a Backstage at the Rozsa event.

• Keweenaw Support 4 Healthy Minds meets at 6:30 p.m. Portage Lake District Library, Houghton. Keweenaw Support 4 Healthy MInds is a public group, and we welcome anyone interested in our mission: “to support healthy minds through connection and community.” We are on Facebook and our email address is ksup4healthyminds@gmail.com.
• The Copper Country Veterans Association will be meeting 7 p.m. at the Chassell VFW. All Veterans are welcome to attend

• Calumet High School annual Homecoming Parade, 6 p.m. Parade line-up will begin on Mine St. make its way through downtown Calumet.
October 9
• Better Together will meet at 9:30 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church on 400 Ingot Street in Hancock. The speaker will be Carol Jones and her topic will be, “What’s on Your Mind?” Special music will be provided by Stephanie Eshbach Veenstra and Katelyn Eshbach. A brunch will be served and there is suggested donation of $10. All proceeds over the cost of the event will be donated to local charities. • Coat the Copper Country. We are collecting clean, new or gently used coats, snowpants, boots, waterproof gloves/mittens, hats and scarves for all ages, especially children (and men). Donations can be dropped off donations at The Salvation Army Bread of Life Center, 408 Ravine St. Hancock (M-Th. 9-4) and Copper Country Angel Mission 433 fifth St. Calumet (W-Sat. 11-2).
