Events and opportunities
December 20
• Grinch in Lake Linden 10 a.m. – 1 p.m. | US/Eastern, Little Gem Community Center. The Grinch will visit the Little Gem Community Center to pose for pictures. Kids can enjoy a craft, and the Lake Linden Fire Department will provide s’mores and hot chocolate.
• KNHP Open House, 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. Looking for something festive? The Keweenaw National Historical Park’s Calumet Visitor Center (98 5th St, Calumet) has something for you! Step into historical holiday cheer at the Holiday Open House. You’ll have the opportunity to engage in make-and-take holiday crafts inspired by 150 years of seasonal traditions.
• Free Dogsled Rides, noon – 2 p.m. Agassiz Park, Calumet. CopperDog, musher Tom Bauer, and the Mushing Club at Michigan Tech will offer free dogsled rides for kids. Hot chocolate, hot dogs and coffee will be served.
• Finnish Carol Singing, 2 p.m. Our Saviors Lutheran Church, Atlantic Mine.
• Santa at Hurontown, 6 p.m. Hurontown Fire Hall. Treats, crafts and Santa too!
• Santa Visits Tamarack City, 6 p.m. Tamarack City Park. Santa Claus will arrive on the Tamarack City fire truck at 6 p.m. sharp. He will visit with kids, and have goodie bags for those on the nice list. Come and enjoy an evening of holiday family fun in Tamarack City.
• Light up Baraga County, 2 p.m.Children’s events at American Legion, 3 p.m. Santa arrives at American Legion. Parade downtown at 5:30. Tree lighting following parade. Open Skate from 6 – 9 p.m.
• Holiday Talent Show. 7 p.m. Little Gem Community Center, Lake Linden. All are welcome!
December 21
• Christmas Cantata, 2 p.m. L’Anse Methodist Church. “The Heart of Christmas.” Refreshments and fellowship to follow.
• Let’s Eat Community Meal. “Let’s Eat” Community Meal. 4 – 5:30 p.m. Griffin Family Cafe 208 Quincy St., Hancock.
