January 17
• Kelli van Ginhoven (D), candidate for MI Senate District 38, will hold a major campaign fundraiser for Houghton Co. from 2 – 4 p.m. Join Kelli and her team at 5th and Elm at the Orpheum Theater in Hancock.
• STEAM Saturday, 10 a.m. – noon,, 417n Quincy, Hancock. Kaleidoscope’s STEAM Saturdays offer kids ages 5 and up an opportunity to experience hands-on science and art activities. Kaleidoscope staff will be available to assist, and will provide supplemental and complementary activities so that all family members can be engaged in age-appropriate projects.
STEAM Saturdays take place at Kaleidoscope’s classrooms, on the fourth floor of the Hancock Community Hub on Quincy Street. All community members are welcome, at no charge, although donations to support Kaleidoscope are welcome.
• Nature by Night Twilight Ski, 4 p.m. Maasto Hiihto Trails, Tomasi Trailhead. Embrace the transition from day to night: Join KLT board members Shawn Opplinger and Mike Abbott for our Nature by Night event series Twilight Ski! Shawn and Mike will lead two groups: one group will enjoy a shorter, more beginner friendly loop (~2 miles), while the second group will ski a longer loop (~4 miles). The groups will meet at the Maasto Hiihto/Churning Rapids trailhead at Tomasi Drive, then ski our way to KLT’s Churning Rapids conservation easement.

• The next Let’s Eat Community Meal will be at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church in Hancock.These meals welcome guests of all ages and they are free of charge. The cost of all of these monthly meals are always covered through contributions of local businesses, organizations and congregations. All meals are served between 4 and 5:30 p.m.
January 25
• Swedetown Winter Trails Day. How about a new way to stay active in winter? From noon to 4 p.m. there will be skis,
snowshoes and snow bikes you can try out at the Swedetown Chalet in Calumet, courtesy of Cross Country Sports. The latest Atomic top-end skis will be available too. This event is sponsored by the Swedetown Trails Club.
