March 9

• Blood Drive noon – 3 p.m. Houghton High School's National Honor Society will host a blood drive in between the high school and middle school gyms. Those interested in donating should enter through Door 1, or the big glass entrance, located at the front of the school building. Snacks and beverages will be provided for those donating!

March 11

• Free Soup Supper 3 – 6 p.m. Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church, 47281 Adventure St, Atlantic Mine. Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church in Atlantic Mine offers a free supper on the second Wednesday of each month. All are invited to enjoy soup, bread, and a piece of fruit. A vegan option is available.

• Copper Country Recycling Initiative monthly meeting, 6:30 p.m. Portage Lake District Library. • Copper Country Junior Hockey Association Board meeting, 6:30 p.m. HOCO, 1500 Birch St, Hancock. Anyone interested in supporting youth hockey is welcome.

March 14

• UP Wild Gathering presents A Celtic Celebration, led by Pastor Bucky Beach (ret,) 3 p.m. Nara Nature Park. The UP Wild Gatherings are opportunities to connect with God and each other within our natural world. Each Gathering has a leader who will guide the participants through readings and reflection. The Gathering will be indoors with an outdoor component. Snowshoes and cross-country skis are welcome. The Gatherings are appropriate for all ages, including families and children. Everyone is welcome, no religious affiliation is necessary. A potluck meal will follow the service.

March 15

• Let’s Eat Community Meal, The next meal in Chassell will take place from 4 – 5:30 p.m. at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church. The menu will be baked chicken, baked beans, dinner roll, cole slaw, cookies. The sponsor for this month is DP Construction of Chassell. Rob Bishop will be in charge of the event and likely will get some help from the local Sigma Rho fraternity. Enjoy the meal !

March 26

• MTU Book Sale. The Annual Michigan Tech Library book sale will be held this year in the Memorial Union Building (MUB) on campus. Thousands of gently used donated books for sale in all ranges of fiction and non-fiction categories. This year we have especially strong donation in mathematics and history. The main sale, including library withdrawals, will be Thursday from 10 a.m.-4 p.m., with the 3-4 p.m. hour devoted to our famous $5 bag sale! Prices are 50¢ or $1 for paperbacks and $2 for hardbacks. Some specially priced local interest and rare(r) books will be for sale as well.

Cash, card, and check accepted (ATM in building). All proceeds go to the library with an all-volunteer crew and no overhead on your card sales. Parking is free on campus after 4 p.m. and there is metered parking right outside the MUB at other times.
