• Community Ramadan Meal, 7:30 p.m. Keweenaw Storytelling Center 215 5th St. Calumet. The Keweenaw Storytelling Center and the MTU Muslim Student Association will host a warm and welcoming Ramadan Community Meal. Ramadan is the ninth month of the Islamic calendar — a time of fasting, reflection, prayer, and community connection. Muslims fast from dawn to sunset and gather to break their fast during Iftar. This free event is open to everyone — whether you are Muslim or simply interested in learning and building bridges in our community. They invite you to bring your favorite dish to share if you like! • The Calumet Keweenaw Sportsmen’s Club will hold its March membership meeting at 6:30 p.m. at the Ahmeek Fire Hall, 13 Vivian Street, Ahmeek. There will be a period of social interaction and a meal. Following the meal and general club business, Julia Peterson from The Nature Conservancy (TNC) will be the guest speaker. She will provide an update on TNC’s local activities and the current status of the Keweenaw Heartlands Project. As always, everyone is welcome and encouraged to attend.

• Sustainability Film Series, 7-9 p.m. Michigan Tech Fisher Hall Room 138. The Sustainability Film Series continues the tradition of bringing timely, informative, and thought-provoking films to campus. The series fosters meaningful dialogue and reflection among Michigan Tech faculty, students, and staff, as well as members of the broader Keweenaw community.
Tonight’s film is “The Invisible Mammal.” Filmmaker Kristin Tièche explores the crucial roles that bats play in our shared environment, and how a team of women bat scientists set out to save a North American bat species from a deadly fungal disease called white-nose syndrome (WNS) to create a better future for both bats and humans.
March 21
• (Rescheduled from March 13) Old Time Copper Country Dance, 7 – 10 p.m. Finnish American Heritage Center, Hancock. Live music by Oren Tikkanen and the BackRoom Boys. Hojalat and Pikku Kivajat performance at 6:10 p.m. Tickets are $5, children 14 & under free. Benefit for the Kivajat Finnish Dancers.
March 26
• MTU Book Sale. The Annual Michigan Tech Library book sale will be held this year in the Memorial Union Building (MUB) on campus. Thousands of gently used donated books for sale in all ranges of fiction and non-fiction categories. This year we have especially strong donation in mathematics and history. The main sale, including library withdrawals, will be Thursday from 10 a.m.-4 p.m., with the 3-4 p.m. hour devoted to our famous $5 bag sale! Prices are 50¢ or $1 for paperbacks and $2 for hardbacks. Some specially priced local interest and rare(r) books will be for sale as well. Cash, card, and check accepted (ATM in building). All proceeds go to the library with an all-volunteer crew and no overhead on your card sales. Parking is free on campus after 4 p.m. and there is metered parking right outside the MUB at other times.
