After its signing, copies of the Declaration were sent across the land, often to be read aloud at a community gathering. The League of Women Voters of the Copper Country is holding a special gathering on July 4 to have the community read the Declaration aloud. Called “We Declare,” a rolling reading will begin at noon at the Rotary Pavillion in Kestner Waterfront Park, Houghton. Attendees will read the Declaration, one paragraph at a time. All are welcome to read. In addition to the public reading, the League will be offering free copies of the U.S. Constitution. There is a space on the back of each copy for the person to sign a pledge to support the Constitution. Upon signing, a special commemorative sticker will be added, marking this 250th anniversary. Distribution of the Constitution booklets will run from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Starting at $4.00/week.
