July 2
• Hancock Farmer’s Market, 2-6 p.m. Quincy Green. The weekly Hancock Farmer’s Market offers fresh local produce, baked goods and handmade crafts at Quincy Green.
• Copper Harbor Performance in the Park, 7 – 9 p.m. Donny Kilpela Memorial Park. Tonight’s artist is Jan Arnold.
• Daniell Park Concert, 7 – 8:30 p.m. corner of 3rd and Pewabic, Laurium. Music tonight by Pizza Planet.
• Organ Concert, 7-8 p.m. St. Paul the Apostle Church, Calumet. Renowned organist Bruce Bengtson of Madison, WI will present a free concert on the historic Kilgen pipe organ at St. Paul the Apostle Church in Calumet. The program will include patriotic favorites in celebration of our country’s 250th birthday, as well as music by J.S. Bach and other beloved composers.
• L’Anse Waterfront Concert, 2-7 p.m. L’Anse Waterfront Park. Tonight’s music is by Copy That, featuring, Country, Smooth Jazz and Rock.
July 3
• Hancock Offices closed. In observance of the Fourth of July Holiday, Hancock City Offices and Transit will be closed Friday, July 3.
• Lake Linden Farmer’s Market. 3-6 p.m. Lake Linden Park.
July 4
• July 4 gathering. The League of Women Voters of the Copper Country is holding a special gathering on July 4 to have the community read the Declaration aloud. Called “We Declare,” a rolling reading will begin at noon at the Rotary Pavillion in Kestner Waterfront Park, Houghton. Attendees will read the Declaration, one paragraph at a time. All are welcome to read. In addition to the public reading, the League will be offering free copies of the U.S. Constitution. There is a space on the back of each copy for the person to sign a pledge to support the Constitution. Upon signing, a special commemorative sticker will be added, marking this 250th anniversary. Distribution of the Constitution booklets will run from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
July 5
• Annual Breakfast. The Twin Lakes Fire Department is inviting all to attend its 30th Annual Breakfast from 7:30 to 11:30 a.m. Pancakes, French toast, and sausage will be served. Guests can also browse a bake sale offering a variety of homemade treats and baked goods. Admission is $10 for adults and $5 for children.
July 6
• Trail skate, 7-8 p.m. Grab your wheels and meet at the Downtown Houghton Waterfront Pier by the PLDL. We will roll from there down to the Ray Kestner park and back! All skates, bikes, skateboards, or scooters welcome to join. This is a community skate to meet new friends and get outside! Contact: Susie Toivonen, slammer@keweenawrollerderby.com
• MI-TRALE meeting, 7 p.m. Stannard Township Hall, Bruce Crossing. MI-TRALE will hold its monthly meeting at the Stannard Township Hall in Bruce Crossing. Anyone interested in maintaining ATV and snowmobile trails in the western U.P. is invited. A ZOOM option is now available for virtual attendance of meetings.
