July 15
• Gas Train Rides, noon- 4 p.m. Houghton County Historical Museum, Lake Linden. Take a ride on the gas train at the Houghton County Historical Museum in Lake Linden every Wednesday through September from noon until 4 p.m. Tickets are available at the museum – Adults $6; Students $4; 3-5 years old $3; under 3, free
• Summer Slam Concert, 7 – 9 p.m. Houghton downtown pier. Tonight’s music is by Bling Crosby.
• Calumet Theatre Concert, 7:30. The Calumet Theatre’s Summer Concert Series presents rockin’ country with Chad Borgen and the Collective. There is no charge, but donations to the performers will be appreciated.
• Chassell Farmer’s Market, 3 – p.m. Centennial Park.
•Fish Discovery/Fish With a Ranger Houghton County Historical Museum, Lake Linden. The Fish Discovery Program takes place from 1-3 p.m. at the Museum, followed by Fish with a Ranger at Torch Lake, from 3-5 p.m.
• History on the Hill — Douglass Houghton. 6 p.m. Quincy Mine and Shaft. Award-winning local author Deborah K. Frontiera talks about her new publication “Douglass Houghton: Michigan’s Pioneer Geologist, Doctor, and Teacher.” The presentation begins at 6 p.m. in the 1894 Hoist House with a book signing to follow. There is no charge, and light refreshments will be provided.
July 16
• Circle Up Keweenaw Kayak Outing, 6 p.m. Agate Beach Park. Circle UP Keweenaw will hold a kayak outing at the Agate Beach Park at Misery Bay. All are welcome, even if you’re not a group member. Bring your own kayak – if you don’t have one, hang out on the beach.
• Movie Magic, Calumet Theatre, 6:30 p.m. This week’s Calumet Theatre Movie Magic feature is “The Wild Robot.” Admission is free. Popcorn and water cost $1, and candy costs $2.
• Chassell Heritage Center Program, 7 p.m. Tonight’s program presents an evening of Finnish folk music with Trio Tumpelot and Majority Finn. There is no charge.
• Performance in the Park, 7-9, Donny Kilpela, Memorial Park, Copper Harbor. Tonight’s Music is by Uncle Floyd. Bring your blankets, chairs and picnic baskets and enjoy family friendly entertainment.
• Daniell Park Concert Series, Laurium. Tonight’s performance is by Bling Crosby.
• L’Anse Waterfront Concert series. 7 p.m., L’Anse Waterfront Park. Tonight it’s an Aura Jamboree Preview.
July 17
• Key Ingredients, 6-8 p.m. Hancock. Key Ingredients street festival celebrates local restaurants and musicians on the evening before the Canal Run. Enjoy Complimentary samples from local food and drink establishments, along with live music from headline bands Rewind, Bling Crosby, and Uncle Pete’s Red Hot Revue, along with additional music up and down Quincy Street.
August 8
• White Pine Mine Reunion, 12 p.m. – 4 p.m. Registration from 12 p.m. – 2:30 p.m., at White Pine American Legion. BBQ, Hot dogs and desserts. Side dishes are always appreciated. Call Jim “Cookie” Cook for more information: 715-551-0887.
