July 25

• Beginner Fishing Clinic 1 p.m. Seneca Lake Park. The Calumet-Keweenaw Sportsmen's Club and Keweenaw National Historical Park present two Beginner Fishing Clinics at Keweenaw County's Seneca Lake Park. Sessions run from 9 a.m. until noon, and 1 – 4 p.m. These family-friendly events offer a welcoming introduction to fishing, with all supplies provided. Whether you're hoping to reel in your first catch or want to learn the basics, these clinics are the perfect opportunity. Registration is required – email cksportsmensclub@gmail.com to secure your spot. Children under 16 must be accompanied by a guardian.

• Steam Train Rides, noon – 4 p.m. Houghton County Historical Museum, Lake Linden. Take a ride on the historic steam train at the Houghton County Museum each Saturday between noon and 4 p.m. Adults $6, students $4, ages 3,4 $3, under 3 free.

• L’Anse Farmers Market, 9 a.m. – noon, Meadowbrook Park. The weekly L’Anse Farmers Market features fresh local produce and baked goods at the pavilion at Meadowbrook Park.

• Calumet Farmers Market, 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. Agassiz Park. The Calumet Farmers Market at Agassiz Park offers fresh produce, baked goods and local crafts.

• Lift Bridge Literary Society Meeting, 12:30 p.m. Portage Lake District Library, Houghton. The Lift Bridge Literary Society will meet at the Portage Lake District Library to discuss books recommended by members. New members are welcome.

• Historic Church Open House, 10 a.m. – 8 p.m. Historic Suomi Church, 501 Reservation St. Hancock. Come explore the historic 1889 Finnish Apostolic Lutheran Church building and learn how they’re restoring this community landmark for generations to come.

Events include: Guided walkthroughs of the sanctuary, basement tour, restoration vision, story giving and donation opportunities, souvenirs available for purchase with proceeds going towards our restoration efforts.

July 26

• Central Mine Church Reunion, Central Mine Methodist Church. What began in 1907 as a worship service for people who once lived in Central Mine and left when the mine closed, continues today, 116 years later. This non-denominational service blends a worship experience with a touch of the history. There will be services at 9 and 11 a.m.

• Copper Shores Community Picnic, noon – 3 p.m. Gipp Arena, Laurium. Stop by for free food, activities, and the chance to connect with the programs and services that uplift our community. Follow the link for details. More Info: https://www.coppershores.org/picnic

• Western UP Board of Health Monthly Meeting. 6 p.m. (EDT) Bessemer. The regular monthly meeting of the Western U.P. Board of Health will be held at 6:00 p.m. (EST) on Monday, July 27, at Western U.P. Health Department, 210 N. Moore Street, Bessemer. The meeting will also be available to attend via Google Meet. • Keweenaw County Historical Society Program, 7 p.m. Eagle Harbor Community Building. “Researchers Bring Forgotten Underground Mines into a 3D Future.” MTU Assoc. Prof. Tim Scarlett and his team explore new possible futures for old underground mines. Suggested donation: $5.00.

Aug. 1

• Pancake Breakfast, 8:30 – 11:30 a.m. Bonfire Restaurant, Houghton. The Houghton High School Alumni Association will hold its Pancake Breakfast with Silent Pie Auction this year at the Bonfire Restaurant, Montezuma Avenue in Houghton, serving variety of pancakes, Vollwerth’s sausage, coffee, juice, suggested donation is $10 per adult, while supply lasts. Tickets are available in advance from committee members and at the door. Open to the public.

August 5

• Keweenaw County Historical Society Program, 7 p.m. Keweenaw National Historical Park Visitor Center, 5th St. Calumet. “Copper and Courage: Keweenaw County in the Civil War.” KNHP Ranger Lynette Webber reviews Keweenaw County’s links to the Civil War, including how one early mine agent/former Copper Harbor resident later was suspected as a mastermind behind the Lincoln assassination.

August 7

• ‘Adventures at Eagle Harbor Light Station,’ a Keweenaw County Historical Society program, 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. Eagle Harbor Light Station. Celebrate National Lighthouse Day and join us for activities and lectures throughout the day. Suggested donation: $8.00. See keweenawhistory.org/events for details and updates.

August 8
