• Blood Drive – Hancock. 11 a.m. – 3 p.m. Canal View Houghton County, Hancock. The UP Regional Blood Center will hold a blood drive at Canal View in Hancock. Walk-ins are welcome.

• Blood Drive – L’Anse, 11 a.m. – 3 p.m. L’Anse Methodist Church. The UP Regional Blood Center will hold a blood drive at the L’Anse Methodist Church. Walk-ins are welcome.

• Baragaland Senior Citizens Meal, 11:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. Green Hill Manor. Senior meals brought to you by Baragaland Senior Citizens. Meals are served from 11:30am to 12:30pm at the Green Hill Manor in L’Anse. Suggested donation of $5 for 60+ and $6.50 for under 60. All meals include milk or water and bread and butter. • Bundle the Backpacks, 3:30 – 7 p.m. Salvation Army, 408 Ravine St. Hancock. Help the Copper Country Angel Mission give away backpacks filled with school supplies.

• L’Anse Farmer’s Market, 9 a.m. – noon, Meadowbrook Park, Division Street, L’Anse The weekly L’Anse Farmers Market features fresh local produce and baked goods at the pavilion at Meadowbrook Park.

• Mellon Fellow Presentation. 1 p.m. Keweenaw National Historical Park Visitor Center. Keweenaw National Historical Park will host a free program exploring how public history can broaden our understanding of what constituted an industrial landscape.

• Hancock Tori, 10 a.m. – 1 p.m. Quincy Green, Hancock. The Hancock Tori features fresh local produce and baked goods, along with handmade crafts.

• Big Annie Statue Unveiling, 3-5:30 p.m. Calumet Commons. The public is invited to attend the unveiling and dedication of the Big Annie statue in downtown Calumet. The event will begin with a parade down 5th Street, followed by the dedication ceremony at Calumet Greenspace Park. Community members can also enjoy live music, free ice cream, and face painting. The celebration will mark the unveiling and dedication of a new statue commemorating Big Annie's life and legacy.

• Mental Health Board Meeting. The Copper Country Community Mental Health Services’ Board meeting will be held at 5 p.m. at Copper Country Mental Health’s Ontonagon County Center located at 515 Quartz Street in Ontonagon.

September 2

• Inter-Lutheran Seminary. The fall semester starts on Wednesday, Sept. 2. Daily classes include Christian Dogmatics II, Eschatology, Gospel of Mark, Genesis, Evangelism, Churches, Sects & Isms and Daniel. The Monday night class will be the Acts of the Apostles and starts on Sept. 14, at 916 Pine Street, Hancock and also available online. Join us on Saturday, Sept. 5 from 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. for the final sale for the Gay VFD Auxiliary Bazaar & Sales. There are many new items and markdowns, 50% off most items priced at a dollar or more, excluding books and jewelry. Fizz Dirty Soda Company will be serving up delicious drinks and East Fork Pasty will offer ready to eat and frozen take out pasties.
