• The Friends of the Portage Lake District Library will host a One Day Only Used Book Sale at the Hancock Area District Library (formerly the Hancock School Public Library.) The name of the Library has changed, but it's still in the same location! The sale will be held this Friday Aug 28 from 10 a.m.
• 6 p.m. at the Hancock High School at 501 Campus Drive in Hancock. Due to current entrance construction, please enter at the double doors located in the middle of the building, between the middle school and the high school ends.
• Neighbor’s Table, 5:30 – 7 p.m. Faith Lutheran Church. The monthly Neighbor’s Table community meal will be served at Faith Lutheran Church in Calumet between 5:30 and 6:30, with takeouts available between 6:30 and 7 p.m. All are welcome for fellowship, no charge.
• Roller skating at the Gipp, 6-9 p.m. George Gipp Arena, Laurium. The George Gipp Arena will be open for roller skating and roller blading every Friday night this summer. Admission is $2/per skater. All ages are welcome! Bring your own gear – rental skates are not available. Wearing protective gear is encouraged.
• Lake Linden Farmer’s Market, 3-6 p.m. Lake Linden Park.

• Hancock Tori, 10 a.m. – 1 p.m. Quincy Green. The Hancock Tori features fresh local produce and baked goods, along with handmade crafts, each Saturday from 10 until 1 at Quincy Green.
• L’Anse Farmer’s Market, 9 a.m. – noon, Meadowbrook Park. The weekly L’Anse Farmers Market features fresh local produce and baked goods at the pavilion at Meadowbrook Park.
• Calumet Farmer’s Market, 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. Agassiz Park, Calumet. The Calumet Farmers Market at Agassiz Park offers fresh produce, baked goods and local crafts.
• Bob Hiltunen Benefit, Doors open at 6 p.m. Music at 7 p.m. Range Snowmobile Club, Atlantic Mine. Acts include Suffer no Fools, Wilt, Coyote and Isle Royale Mining Co. $5.
August 31
• Musical Monday, 7 p.m. Keweenaw Heritage Center at St. Anne’s, Calumet. Season Finale: Favorite and Surprises. Admission by donation to the roof fund.
September 2
• Inter-Lutheran Seminary. The fall semester starts on Wednesday, Sept. 2. Daily classes include Christian Dogmatics II, Eschatology, Gospel of Mark, Genesis, Evangelism, Churches, Sects & Isms and Daniel. The Monday night class will be the Acts of the Apostles and starts on Sept. 14, at 916 Pine Street, Hancock and also available online. September 5
Join us on Saturday, Sept. 5 from 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. for the final sale for the Gay VFD Auxiliary Bazaar & Sales. There are many new items and markdowns, 50% off most items priced at a dollar or more, excluding books and jewelry. Fizz Dirty Soda Company will be serving up delicious drinks and East Fork Pasty will offer ready to eat and frozen take out pasties. We’ll still have our free will donation lunch available for you to enjoy as well. Come join in the fun, have lunch and take home some good deals.

• Better Together will meet on Thursday, September 10 at 9:30 at Zion Lutheran Church at 400 Ingot Street in Hancock. The speaker will be Maura Leinonen and her topic will be, “Joyfully Following Jesus.” Special music will be provided by Kristin Kytta of Chassell. All area women are invited to attend this fun and inspiring event. A brunch will be served and there is a suggested donation of $10.
