CHASSELL TOWNSHIP — One person suffered minor injuries after a two-vehicle crash in Chassell Township Saturday.

The crash occurred about 8:54 a.m. on U.S. 41 south of Klingville Road, the Houghton County Sheriff’s Office said in a news release.

A 65-year-old Chassell man was riding on his 2017 Polaris Ranger ATV northbound on the shoulder of U.S. 41 when he tried to make a U-turn. He was hit by a 2018 Dodge Grand Caravan driven by a 32-year-old Merrill, Wisconsin woman traveling the same direction.

Neither alcohol nor drugs were believed to be factors, the sheriff’s office said.

The driver of the Grand Caravan and two passengers were uninjured. The driver of the ATV was transported to UP Health System — Portage for minor injuries.

The Sheriff’s Office was assisted by Chassell Township Fire Department and First Responders, Mercy EMS and Superior Service.
