Laurium man arrested after high-speed chase

HOUGHTON — A Laurium man was arrested Saturday morning after allegedly leading police on a chase through Laurium.

About 11 p.m., the 29-year-old man was driving on U.S. 41 through Calumet Township when a Houghton County sheriff’s deputy attempted to pull him over, the sheriff’s office said in a release.

Deputies pursued the man through Laurium, finally taking him into custody in Florida Location. The man is being lodged in the Houghton County Jail.

He is charged with felony fleeing and eluding and driving on a suspended license. He is scheduled to be arraigned in 97th District Court Monday morning. His name is being withheld pending arraignment.

Assisting the Houghton County Sheriff’s Office were the Michigan State Police Calumet police, Laurium Police Department and Patriot Towing.
