Baraga Telephone Co. considers offering cable TV in Houghton
HOUGHTON — Houghton residents could soon have another option for cable television.
Wednesday, the Houghton City Council approved a cable TV franchise agreement for Baraga Telephone Co., which is looking to expand into the area.
The agreement is identical to the one given to Charter Communications, which is not exclusive, said City Manager Eric Waara.
There is no timeline regarding the service, said Shawn Laemmerich, information technology manager for Baraga Telephone Co.
“We are investigating providing a TV product, but it’s still in the planning stages,” he said.
