Hancock Schools moves forward with learning changes
HANCOCK — Rabbits, its seems, are resistant to the novel Coronavirus, according to the Rabbit Welfare Association and Fund of of Great Britain. Hancock Schools Superintendent Steve Patchin says he has heard a rumor that the Easter Bunny will be visiting the packet/food pickup at Barkell Elementary School on Wednesday. Beyond that, he offered no further details. He did, however, say that parents are encouraged to bring their children to the pickup.
“Our staff would enjoy seeing their smiling faces,” he said in an email. “And, we ordered sun from Mother Nature for Wednesday morning.”
Patchin also announced some changes parents and students should look for this week.
“Our teachers are busy learning and modifying their curriculum to increase engagement with (the) students,” Patchin said. “Each week your students will see this transformation as we accelerate the blending of physical and virtual learning, focusing on student engagement.”
The changes students and parents are asked to look for this week are:
• Food, book/Chromebook, and elementary packets will be picked up at Barkell Elementary School on Wednesday. Pick-up hours will be expanded to 10 am to 1 pm to help with the flow of traffic.
• Middle School and High School packets will be picked up at Hancock High School from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. on Wednesday.
• You will be receiving a detailed technology survey in your packets today. There will be another more detailed survey coming out on line for those of you that have access. Please fill this survey out with as much detail as possible and return the paper survey to us at the next food pick up or drop it in the library book return at the high school. It will help us as we plan to more fully move to a blended learning experience with the goal of having the ability to go fully on-line when needed, with all students/households having the ability to connect with the internet.
As a final note, Patchin said teachers and students are working on completing the high school and middle school year books. Information will be coming on how students can receive their copies.
