Fire destroys Adams Township home

David Archambeau/For the Gazette Firefighters from several departments responded to a Thursday afternoon structure fire that destroyed a home on North Huron Street in Adams Township.

ADAMS TOWNSHIP — A structure fire on Friday destroyed an Atlantic Mine home located on North Huron Street, stated a release from the Houghton County Sheriff’s Office. The fire began at approximately 3:30 p.m., and was reportedly started by a deep fryer on the stove.

Adams Township Fire and First Responders were assisted on the scene by the Hurontown Fire and Rescue; South Range Fire; Stanton Township Fire; Otter Lake Fire; Twin Lakes Fire departments; Mercy Ambulance, Houghton County Sheriff’s Office and the Houghton Police Department.

The home is considered a total loss. No injuries were reported in the blaze. Money from the Pigs and Heat Fund will be used to place the family in a hotel for several nights.
