HOUGHTON — A three-vehicle personal injury crash resulted in one driver being sent to the hospital, according to a release from the Houghton City Police Department.

The crash occurred at approximately 2 p.m. Monday, at the intersection of Sharon Avenue and Razorback Drive, the release states.

A west-bound vehicle driven by an 84-year-old man from Houghton, failed to yield the right of way while making a left turn on Razorback Drive, colliding with an east-bound vehicle on Sharon Avenue, driven by a 20-year-old from Calumet. The third vehicle, driven by a 53-year-old female, also from Calumet, was at the intersection of Razorback Drive waiting to turn on to Sharon Avenue, was then struck by the vehicle failing to yield, the report states.

The 84-year-old man was transported by Mercy Ambulance to U.P. Health Systems Portage hospital for treatment of his injuries.

Alcohol and speed are not believed to be factors in the crash, which remains under investigation.

Assisting at the scene was the Houghton County Sheriff’s Office.
