GOGEBIC COUNTY — Troopers from the Michigan State Polie Wakefield Post on Friday were dispatched to the area of the Presque Isle Campground in response to a 911 caller reported a person had fallen from the falls.

At approximately 8:30 pm., on Aug. 14, troopers responded to the area off of County Road 519. They arrived on the scene and located a male in the water who was unresponsive, and was later pronounced dead at the scene.

Officers were assisted on scene by U.S. Federal Forest Service officers, Gogebic County Sheriff’s Office, Gogebic County Search and Rescue, Beacon EMS, Porcupine Mountain DNR officers, dispatchers from Iron County Central Dispatch, and Negate Regional Communications Center.

No other information regarding the incident or the victim was released in the Wakefield Post news release.
