HOUGHTON — A number of road, operating and fire millages are on the November ballot for Houghton County.

• Chassell Township residents will vote on a 2-mil, four-year renewal for road improvement. It would result in an estimated $130,100.40 in revenue in the first year. There will also be a 1-mill, four-year renewal for fire protection and prevention. Possible uses outlined in the millage request include construction, maintenance, repairs, equipment, supplies and other operating costs for Chassell Volunteer Fire Department and Chassell First Responders. The millage will raise an estimated $65,050.20 in the first year.

• Duncan Township residents will vote on a 1.2691-mill, four year millage renewal for general township operating purposes. It would raise an estimated $19,551 in the first year.

• Laird Township residents will vote on a 1-mill, five-year renewal for fire protection and fire department operating expense. It will raise an estimated $17,000 in the first year.

• Torch Lake Township residents in Precinct 2 will vote on a .9421-mill renewal with an increase of .0579 mills, totaling 1 mill, for 10 years to pay for improvements to fire, rescue and first responder services equipment. It would raise an estimated $52,250 in its first year.

• Elm River Township School District residents will vote on a 18-mill, five-year renewal for the district’s operating expenses. It would raise an estimated $336,600 in its first year.

• Lake Linden-Hubbell Schools residents will vote on an 18-mill, three-year renewal for operating expenses. The .2085-mill increase restores millage amounts lost through a Headlee rollback. The renewal would raise an estimated $3,000 above the rolled-back amount in its first year.
