ONTONAGON — An Ontonagon man was arraigned on multiple counts of criminal sexual conduct in 98th District Court Thursday.

Joseph Haapala, 42, was charged with two counts of third-degree criminal sexual conduct, a 15-year felony.

Haapala was arrested Wednesday after Ontonagon County deputies executed a search warrant at his home.

His probable cause hearing is set for Feb. 1, with a preliminary hearing following a week later.

Haapala is out on bond, which was set at 10% cash of $50,000.
