LL-H adds board member

Holzberger

LAKE LINDEN — The Lake Linden-Hubbell Schools Board added a new member Monday night.

Courtney Holzberger was sworn in for the first time at Monday’s monthly meeting. Holzberger was chosen by the board at a special meeting last week. She replaces Amy Codere, who resigned from the board.

“I’m interested in joining the board because i think it’s important for people to participate in their communities,” she said. “I have a young daughter who will be attending Lake Linden, and I think it’s important for people to participate in school districts and the process.”

As a 2010 Lake Linden graduate, the school “is near and dear to my heart,” Holzberger said.

Holzberger works at Michigan Technological University, where she is director of animal research protection programs.

She began working at Tech in 2012, while receiving her bachelor’s degree in medical laboratory science. She also has a master’s in business administration from Tech and a master’s in legal studies from Drexel University.

“I’m young, and I have a couple of degrees, so I think both degrees provide some knowledge I can add value to the board with,” she said.

Having a young child who will be going through the district also gives her a valuable perspective on the school system, she said.

Holzberger said she is not coming to the board with any particular agenda.

“I’m going to sit back and learn and take some type to figure out what’s going on and get comfortable with it,” she said.
