Two arrested for July B&Es

HOUGHTON — Two Houghton County residents were arrested Monday in connection with separate July breaking and entering complaints at Harter’s Party Store in Calumet.

Five firearms were stolen in the incidents, three of which deputies later found in a wooded area in Houghton, the sheriff’s office said in a release Monday.

The two suspects — a juvenile boy and a 17-year-old male — were arrested for breaking and entering with intent, five counts of possession of stolen firearms, possession of stolen property, possession of burglary tools, and felonious resisting-obstructing a police officer.

The juvenile was turned over to his parents. The 17-year-old male is lodged at the Houghton County Jail pending arraignment.

The investigation is still open, and more arrests are expected, the sheriff’s office said.

Anyone with knowledge of the location of the other two firearms is asked to contact the sheriff’s office at 482-0055 or via its Facebook page.
