PORTAGE TOWNSHIP — Police have released the names of two people believed to be those who died in a house fire in Portage Township Friday night.

Investigators believe the remains are those of John Makela, 32, and Breanna Makela, 27, the Michigan State Police announced Thursday. The husband and wife were reported to be trapped inside the building on the night of the fire.

An autopsy has been performed; results are pending. Investigators have contacted family members but a positive identification has not been made.

The coroner is attempting to use dental records and DNA to identify the remains.
