Keweenaw Brewfest thanks volunteers, sponsors, community
Submitted by Rotary Club of Houghton
Cold beers on the waterfront was the best way to beat the heat Aug. 3, and it was all for a good cause! The Rotary Club of Houghton selected Copper Shores Meals on Wheels as a featured beneficiary of the 2024 Keweenaw Brewfest fundraising, supporting the Produce Washing Station Project. This project includes purchasing equipment and renovating workspace to provide a permanent, sustainable food washing area for Meals on Wheels and will have a huge impact on food quality for 350+ seniors every day. Proceeds also support Houghton Rotary Club community projects including our youth programs. The review of 2025 beneficiary applications has already begun.
It’s been truly humbling to see the community rally to support this project (and have fun doing it!). Sponsors and volunteers especially make this event a huge success, and the club is grateful for you all. To the 90 volunteers that sweated it out setting up the event, pouring beer, running for ice and selling raffle tickets: you are the reason this event is so well run and fun. To the 62 sponsors that contributed money, materials, services and souvenirs: we are so grateful for your enthusiastic support!
