Dixon hearing postponed
HOUGHTON — A scheduling conference in the case of a Houghton County man charged with a 2023 murder in Houghton has been postponed to January.
The conference for Evan Dixon had originally been scheduled to take place Friday in Houghton County Circuit Court. It will now take place Jan. 2.
Dixon, 60, pleaded not guilty in September to two counts related to the fatal shooting of Theron Duncan, 53, in downtown Houghton. He is charged with first-degree murder-premeditated, which carries a maximum sentence of life in prison, and felony firearms, punishable by up to two years in prison.
Marquette County Circuit Court Judge Matthew Wiese is presiding at the circuit court level in the case of Dixon, a longtime local attorney. Houghton County Judge Brittany Bulleit, who also formerly worked as the county’s prosecutor and assistant prosecutor, recused herself from the case.
