Boyer’s Art on Display
Former Houghton resident Chevalier Daniel C. Boyer will have a triangular drawing on paper done using Cool Mint® Listerine® and LEGO® mechanical pencil displayed in a group art exhibition in France. “The Iceberg Below Which the Supervillain Conceals his Stealth Yacht Wanders Away” will be included in “Glace Nomade – L’Iceberg A23a en Voyage” at Château de Monboucher, Lamonzie-Saint-Martin, Dordogne, Nouvelle-Aquitaine. The show will run from August 30 through September 30.
Boyer also has a drawing being included in a group art show in Pennsylvania. “The Ghost of Sherlock Holmes,” which is done with Crayola Twistables® coloured pencils and watercolour pencil on paper, and is subject to the restriction that it is to be associated with things prior to 2019 only, is being displayed in the “August Mailart Exhibit” at Half-Price Books in Monroeville. The exhibition began on August 1 and will conclude Sunday. Watercolour pencils, as a medium, can be used in two basic ways. When drawn with dry, they act like coloured pencils, but when used with wetted tips, or on a pre-wet surface, they behave more like watercolour paints.
“(The Dinosaur that Does Not Exist Does Not Observe the Shards of the Monster in the Closet of the House Six Candies Away From the King’s Pitiful Last Stand),” which is done with gouache diluted with sweat and is subject to the restriction that it may be associated with things prior to 2019 only, will be displayed at part of the “2025 International Postcard Art Invitational” at the National Watch & Clock Museum in Columbia MO. The exhibition will run from September 5 through September 27.
Gouache is a type of paint similar to watercolours, but while watercolours are almost always transparent, gouache tends to be more opaque. It usually takes multiple coats, or “glazes,” to get dark or intense colours with watercolours, but with gouache, that can be done with a single coat.
