HANCOCK — Indie-folk singer-songwriter Lena Maude is coming to the Keweenaw for one show, Friday, May 1, at the Orpheum in Hancock. In a submission to the Daily Mining Gazette Lena describes her show as “A heartfelt night of indie folk and quirky folktronica. Poetic words, fingerstyle guitar and layered textures. Some loose stories, light laughs, and plenty of emotion … because we make beauty and trust life.”
According to her website, the Carbondale CO, musician is known for her quirky presence that is both extremely playful and very serious. Her music shimmers between intimate indie folk and ambient experimental pop using intricate fingerstyle guitar, wide-ranging vocals, looping textures, and any object that makes sound.
The May 1 gig is not Lena Maude’s first visit to the Copper Country. According to her website, “For a seven-year cycle in the far north of the Keweenaw Peninsula, Lena contended with the Self, life purpose, and ‘burnout’. Toting a large repository of unheard songs, Lena hit the road during winter of 2025 on the Change Everything You Know personal tour. She let go of nearly all her belongings and made it a mission to augment beliefs and habits. For the first time in her life, Lena is now focusing on music full time.”
Doors at the Orpheum open at 7 p.m. with music starting at 8 p.m. Tickets at the door are $10, with “Pay what you can.”
