HANCOCK — Camp Josh, an Ontonagon-based camp dedicated to providing outdoor recreational opportunities for people with disabilities, senior citizens, and veterans, celebrated its annual fundraiser banquet on April 6th. This year’s event was highlighted by a spirited auction including a handcrafted outdoor fireplace and sitting bench, which alone raised an impressive $1,500.

Students from the Copper Country ISD Career Tech Center’s CTE Welding & Manufacturing and CTE Construction Technology programs collaborated to create the fireplace and bench for the auction. Their hard work and craftsmanship showcased their skills and significantly contributed to the fundraising efforts. The auction started with an opening bid of $200 and quickly escalated as attendees saw the value in the beautifully crafted pieces. One enthusiastic bidder positioned herself strategically to ensure her bids were noticed and successfully won the items with a final bid of $1,500.

“Camp Josh is thrilled with the outcome of this year’s banquet and especially grateful for the support from the CCISD Career Tech Center and their CTE programs,” said Jim Bobula, Camp Josh Board Member. “This generous donation will ensure that we continue to deliver on our promise of joy and engagement for our campers.”

Located in the heart of Michigan’s scenic landscapes, Camp Josh offers a variety of programs that enable our campers to experience the joy of outdoor activities in a supportive and accessible environment. The camp operates under the motto, “Success at Camp Josh is measured in smiles,” a sentiment that was fully embodied by this year’s event.

The funds raised at the banquet will support Camp Josh in expanding its programs and continuing its mission throughout the upcoming summer and beyond. For more information about Camp Josh and how to support or participate in future events, please visit www.campjosh.org.
