Power outage to delay newspaper
HOUGHTON – Due to the widespread power outage across the region, today’s newspaper delivery will be delayed.
Areas of Houghton County are seeing wide swaths of wind damage and power outages, according to National Weather Service meteorologist Matt Zika.
The Upper Peninsula Power Company at 9 a.m today reported power outages for at least 1,400 customers in Ontonagan County.
UPPCO spokesman Dave Forsberg said all crews were out in the field this morning assessing damage from downed trees to power lines throughout the Keweenaw Peninsula, the western U.P. and into Ishpeming.
There were a couple reports of hail up to around an inch in diameter, but the biggest impact was from high winds.
