Finlandia upgrading communication on campus, in community

HANCOCK – Finlandia University is taking steps to improve its communication efforts for faculty and staff as well as the community, and one of those efforts was outlined Wednesday.

During the Finlandia Community Partners meeting at the Finnish American Heritage Center, International Business student Walker Enstad talked about a new podcast program called Finlandia Friday.

Enstad said the program was created by Mike Babcock, Finlandia director of marketing, Brad Beaudette university creative director and himself.

Enstad said Finlandia Friday will be a five to 10 minute program aimed at a widespread audience. Although it will be somewhat fun, it will also have serious purpose.

“We want it to be informational,” he said.

A new studio is under construction for the visual part of the program, but it’s hoped the audio portion of the program will eventually be available on at least one local a.m. radio station. It will also be available on several technological platforms, including Facebook, Twitter (A link), You Tube, iTunes and the Finlandia website.

The program will feature Finlandia faculty and staff, former and current students, and local community members.

The program will go live Oct. 14, Enstad said.
