Two men from UP busted downstate
Arraigned on methamphetamine charges

Two men from Ishpeming were arrested on Feb. 10 downstate in Roscommon County and arraigned on methamphetamine charges.
At approximately 2:15 a.m. on Feb. 10, troopers from the Michigan State Police Houghton Lake post conducted a stop on I-75 in Richfield Township for a traffic violation.
During the roadside investigation, state police reports that troopers seized approximately 127 grams of suspected methamphetamine and five rounds of ammunition. Additional drug paraphernalia was also observed in the vehicle.
The driver, 37-year old William Helsten, and the passenger, 58-year-old Dennis Heikkila, both from Ishpeming, were arrested and lodged at the Roscommon County Jail without incident.
Helsten was arraigned on Februa
11 in the 82nd District Court in Roscommon County on one count of Controlled Substance – Delivery/Manufacture Methamphetamine and Ammunition-POssession by a Prohibited Person. Helsten was given a $150,000 cash or surety bond.
Heikkila was arraigned on Feb. 11 on one count of Controlled Substance – Delivery/Manufacture Methamphetamine. He was given a $100,000 cash or surety bond.
Their next court appearance is at 9 a.m. Wednesday.
