Woman arrested after biting trooper

CORNELL — A woman from the Delta County community of Cornell has been arrested and arraigned on multiple felony counts related to resisting, obstructing, and assaulting a police officer.
According to a press release of the Michigan State Police, on Tuesday, troopers from the Gladstone Post received a report alleging animal neglect involving multiple individuals. Following an initial investigation, a search warrant was obtained seeking further evidence at a location on County Road 426 in Cornell Township.
On February 4, 2026, troopers completed a search warrant at the location. Several deceased animals including cats, rabbits, pigs, and goats were found at the site. Additionally, live animals in a malnourished and unhealthy condition, including 14 cats, 12 rabbits, and a sheep, were seized and removed from the property.
While attempting to complete their investigation, a woman on scene began resisting/obstructing the troopers and refused to follow lawful orders being given to her. The woman then bit one of the troopers on the wrist. She was informed that she was under arrest, and she continued to fight with the troopers, including attempting to bite another trooper. She was safely taken into custody and was then lodged in the Delta County Jail.
On February 5, 2026, 22-year-old Brianna Makosky was arraigned in the 94th District Court on three felony counts of resist/obstruct/assault a police officer. Her bond was set at $4,000.00 cash/surety and she is next due in court on February 19, 2026. The defendant is considered innocent unless proven guilty.
