Vanhaecke waives hearing
HOUGHTON – A South Range man accused of breaking into a Duncan Township camp is headed to circuit court.
Camiel Vanhaecke, 49, waived his preliminary hearing in 97th District Court Wednesday. He is charged with second-degree home invasion, a 15-year felony, and possession of burglar’s tools, a 10-year felony.
His attorney, David Gemignani, said they are expecting to reach a resolution to the case.
Vanhaecke is also a person of interest in the disappearance of his girlfriend Leah Harding. He has not been charged. Harding, 31, of South Range, was reported last seen on April 30.
Vanhaecke remains lodged in the Houghton County Jail on $250,000 bond.
