Crash: Driver loses control near Twin Lakes

ELM?RIVER?TOWNSHIP – A 26-year-old Twin Lakes woman was involved in a one-vehicle accident Tuesday on the Lake Gerald Road near Twin Lakes in Elm River Township, according the a news release from the Houghton County Sheriff’s Office.

The woman was the sole occupant of the 2010 Chevrolet Avalanche when she lost control of the vehicle on a corner of the road and struck a large tree at 8:55 a.m., the report stated.

The woman had to be extricated from the vehicle by the Hurontown Fire Department before being Transported to UP Health System – Portage hospital in Hancock by Mercy Ambulance for treatment of her injuries, according to the report.

The Sheriff’s Department was assisted at the scene by the Twin Lakes Fire Department, Adams Township First Responders, Hurontown Fire and Rescue Jaws of Life and the Michigan State Police.

The driver was wearing her seat belt at the time of the crash, the release said.
