Friday’s 2-vehicle crash in Houghton under investigation
HOUGHTON – Houghton police continue to investigate a two-vehicle crash that injured two people in Houghton Friday.
The crash occurred about 3:50 p.m. Friday when a 1999 Toyota 4-Runner driven by a 73-year-old Hancock woman crossing Memorial Road at Razorback Drive went into the path of a 2003 Ford Focus driven by a 22-year-old Lake Linden woman.
The Ford hit the Toyota on its passenger side, overturning the Toyota. Hurontown Fire & Rescue extricated the Toyota’s driver and her 74-year-old passenger. Mercy EMS transported them to U.P. Health System – Portage hospital.
Police Chief John Donnelly said there was no information on their condition Monday morning.
The Ford driver was uninjured.
Assisting at the scene were Hurontown Fire & Rescue, Houghton Fire Department, Houghton County Sheriff’s Office, Michigan State Police Calumet Post, Adams Township First Responders and Mercy EMS.
