OCAP to offer adoption special

ONTONAGON – Putting its own twist on Black Friday, Ontonagon County Animal Protection is offering an month-long adoption special.

According to a release from OCAP, for the month of November, all black and black-and-white cats and kittens will be adopted out under a “name your own adoption price” system – adoptive pet parents can decide what they’d like to pay to bring home their cat or kitten. Regular adoption requirements will apply, and core vaccines and spaying/neutering are included in the adoption fee.

A busy kitten season brought the shelter nearly 20 kittens born between May and September – most of which are black or black-and-white. The kittens are all healthy and looking for new homes, the release said.

“Gray and tortoiseshell kitties could also be adopted under the name-your-own-price special because of the hint of black in their coats,” the release said.

The shelter also has two black, senior, front-declawed cats, which are also eligible for the “Seniors for Seniors” program, in which cats and dogs over eight years of age are free to adopters 60 and over. They will also be adopted at a two-for-one rate, as they have never been separated.

For those prefer cats with more color, the shelter is also home to a variety of other cats and kittens, all healthy and ready for loving forever homes. Special pricing of $25 will apply for cats of color through the month of November, the release said.
